They Learn This at a Young Age!

While in the car on our way home from Night Eyes last Sunday, Ethan and Olivia were playing house in the backseat. Josh and I heard Ethan say, "Livi, you're the wife, and I'm the husband. You have a baby in your tummy. And when she comes out, you have to do all the work."
Hmmm, I wonder where he learned that one?!

If Mommy Would Be a Barbie

I was in the process of putting on my make-up and straightening my hair the other day when Ethan asked for something. While helping him, I asked, "Am I looking prettier yet?"
He responded, "If you would be a Barbie, I would not want to play with you."
I remember that when I was little, I only wanted to play with the pretty Barbies. I gave the ugly ones to my sister or the neighbor girl to play with. So at first I was a little hurt by the comment. I said, "What do you mean?!"
Ethan replied, "You are too pretty to play with."
Oooohhhh, I get it. I'm like one of those special edition Barbies that stays in the case! Thanks, Ethan!

WMD!

Ethan and Olivia were helping me clean the kitchen a couple of days ago. As Ethan threw something in the trash, he told me, "Mom you need to put water, ice, glue, fire, and charcoal in the trash can, and it will blow up the whole wide world and even all of Boone."
Should I be worried that my son is working on creating weapons of mass destruction?

Broken Hearts!

This is a conversation I overheard the other day between Ethan and Dylan...
Ethan: "Do you remember Evelyn from our class last year? I miss her. What girl do you miss from our class last year?"
Dylan: "Isabella."
They are so sweet! I wonder if the girls miss them?!

Making Hotdogs!

Before supper the other night, Ethan said, "Mom, do we have any hotdogs?"
I replied, "No."
Ethan said, "But can you make some hotdogs? Do we have some ingredients?"
Sorry Ethan. I'd rather not know what it takes to make a hotdog!

Family Picture?

Yesterday, Ethan's teacher told me that they were supposed to draw a picture of their family for their journal assignment. Ethan didn't want to draw me, even after some encouragement from his teacher. He told her that he was drawing everyone playing Playstation and Mommy doesn't play that with them. (He's right. Sometimes I watch, but usually I let that be their Daddy bonding time while I get things done around the house.) I was wondering what Ethan would have to say about it, so later that day, I asked him why he didn't include me in the family picture. He responded, "Because you were gone......You weren't dead. You were just on vacation or something."
Thanks for clearing that up, Buddy!
